About This Game The year is 2051. Location: SATAZIUS, a long-abandoned planet.The cruiser Agano was on patrol when it was attacked and stricken by a confederacy of space pirates that had established a base on SATAZIUS. The pirates attacked the Agano intending to steal the assault ship ‘Trafalgar’ that was stowed aboard the Agano, but the Trafalgar made a successful emergency escape.The crew of the Trafalgar calculated the probability of successfully escaping the pirate overrun planet at 0.02%; the probability of charging into and successfully destroying the pirate base was 1%. Unfortunately, Satazius doesn't have this setting. Its a real side scrolling classic arcade shooter! Not a stupid spastic puzzle rainbow fest like all the other games that come out! I was so thrilled at this fact! If you liked games like R-Type, Raiden, Gradius etc then you may find this game enjoyable! I did! I hope they make another!. always crashed into ground. Ohhhh, this scratched a good itch.... Genius design. Tough enough to prove a challenge, but leaves it to your intution to figure out how to progress. Not unfairly difficult. Satisfying side-scrolling shoot-em-up gameplay.. Rating: 8/10Satazius is a fun little Shmup that closely pays homage to the Sega era of Shmups, it does a good job scratching that "itch" of wanting a good arcade Shmup to play. The level design plays more like a 90's Shmup with obstacles in the level design that mixs well with bullet hell mechanics. The game is not overly punishing, often starting you back at the last checkpoint upon "Game Over". Weapon powerups, while diverse in playstyle, are more traiditonal in how they're obtained. After each boss encounter and stage complete, you go back to the weapon select screen where you can try the new weapon powerup you just unlocked. There were both good and bad things I found while playing Satazius that I feel you should take into consideration before purchasing this game:+ New weapon powerups given after each level make your gameplay experience revitalizing and fresh for the next level.+ Lots of powerups given throughout each level.+ Well balanced stage difficulty, starting moderately hard at the beginning of the game which progressively gets harder.+ Environmental obstacles mix well with a bullet hell environment.+ Controls felt nice and tight; light taps feel accurate when trying to hug a wall for a powerup pickup. + Music has a catchy techno theme that goes well with the sci-fi theme of the game.+ Sprite art are was a nice throwback to some of the older Sega Shmups, lots of great animations.+ Every level was diverse in theming.- Cannot "Pause" while in-game, must rely on a Windows 10 scheduled update popup instead. lol.- After clicking “Start” on the main menu, you cannot go back to choose another option. You’re locked into starting the mission, or exiting the game entirely to go back to the main menu.- In the weapon select screen before and after a stage, you have limited time to make a strategical decision of which weapons to choose for your upcoming level.- No story, no cutscenes! I would have liked to see a "Starfox-esque" dialog system seen during the game, like an animated portrait that has textual dialog, or even voice acting.. Not Bad Game
